My first Christmas mug! After hand throwing the body of the mug I let it dry out for a day then attach the handles. I also add the baubles that are made by pressing some clay into a mould and attach the baubles at different heights around the mug. I press in some dots for the strings.
The mug is then dried out slowly and fired in the kiln. I hand paint the baubles with a red glaze then dip the entire mug in clear glaze, its fired again at an even higher temperature.
Finally I hand paint on the gold lustre to some of the baubles and the string dots and its fired again.
The mug is food safe but because of the gold lustre I do not recommend putting this mug in the dishwasher (the gold will wear away).
